This week's Hyde Park crime blotters

May 13, 11:50 p.m.

A 19-year-old man walking down the 5200 block of South Ellis Avenue was approached by three unknown men. The victim was repeatedly struck by one of the offenders who demanded the victim surrender his money. After obtaining the victim’s possessions, the offenders fled the area on foot. Police were notified and observed a male walking in the 4900 block of South Drexel Avenue matching one offender’s description. The man, 21-year-old Solomon Howard, was positively identified by the victim as one of the offenders. The other two were described as black, 20-22 years of age, and 180 pounds.
