Man seriously wounded in shooting at 54th & Cornell

The incident follows another shooting yesterday at 61st and Kimbark.

A 55-year-old man is in serious condition after being shot earlier this evening at East 54th Street and South Cornell Avenue.

According to Chicago Police and eyewitness reports, the man was shot in the face at around 8:55 p.m. He was then taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital.

Two teens have been arrested near East 53rd Street and South University Avenue, according to the Hyde Park Knights Twitter feed. It is unclear if the arrests were made in connection with the shooting.

Another shooting occurred yesterday afternoon at East 61st Street and South Kimbark Avenue, where a 20-year-old man was shot in the leg. He is also listed in serious condition at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, according to Chicago Police.
