Update (1/30/18): The event has been scheduled for Thursday, April 5, wth David Axelrod as the moderator.

University President Robert J. Zimmer will take questions from students next quarter at an open event about free speech.

There will be a moderated discussion with Dean of the College John Boyer followed by audience questions.

Dean of Students in the University Michele Rasmussen shared information about the event with Student Government to be publicized to the student body.

“I am pleased to let you know that President Zimmer and Dean Boyer have confirmed their participation in an event for students in the College where they will discuss salient topics in higher education including the state of free expression and open discourse on campus,” Rasmussen wrote. “As for the format, we envision a moderated conversation between President Zimmer and Dean Boyer, followed by an opportunity for questions from the student audience.”

The University’s goal is to schedule the event for winter quarter, though the date and location have not been set.
