I’m all about Democrats pretending to be populist on trade and then governing differently.Apparently, Obama’s chief economic advisor (and Editors Blog man crush) Austan Goolsbee feels the same way. After all the anti-NAFTA rhetoric in this weeks debate, Goolsbee told reassured a Canadian official that it was just “campaign rhetoric.”In my dreams, this is all a ploy for Obama to get it both ways: Get votes in Ohio while maintaining the respect of everyone who knows anything about trade. Apparently the two are mutually exclusive.
